Pasir Panjang to Marina East

The Greater Southern Waterfront and Newport Residences

Across Keppel Road from Newport Residences lies the coast that the Greater Southern Waterfront will transform. The developer places the tower uniquely to watch the change, with many homes facing the sea and the port lands that will make way for it.

The Greater Southern Waterfront Beside Newport Residences

The Greater Southern Waterfront is a 30-kilometre corridor along Singapore’s southern coast, stretching from Pasir Panjang to Marina East, as EdgeProp reports the plan. As port operations consolidate at Tuas, the URA expects about 1,000 hectares of coastal land to be freed, roughly three times the size of Marina Bay, for homes, offices, parks and leisure over the coming decades.

The developer’s brochure describes a continuous promenade from Marina Bay to Pasir Panjang turning the area into a waterfront destination full of places to walk, cycle and spend the weekend.

The City Terminals and Keppel Near Newport Residences

The City Terminals at Tanjong Pagar, Keppel and Brani, together with the Pasir Panjang Terminal, are relocating to Tuas. Closest to Newport Residences, the former Keppel Club and Keppel Terminal sites are planned for about 10,000 new homes, roughly 7,000 of them public housing, according to the URA and HDB. HDB’s Berlayar estate, an extension of Bukit Merah, marks the first step, with its first Build-To-Order project launched in October 2025.

West of Newport Residences Along the Waterfront

At the western end, the Pasir Panjang Power District is to become a waterfront lifestyle area that keeps its 1950s and 1960s power station buildings, with a waterfront park and a linear park linking West Coast Park to Labrador Nature Reserve. Along the way, the Southern Ridges, Mount Faber and Sentosa already give the coast its green backdrop.

Watching the Change from Newport Residences

From the upper storeys of Newport Plaza the view takes in the Singapore Strait, Sentosa and the port lands, the landscape that the architect’s triangular plan was shaped to face. As the terminals give way, the outlook from the tower will change from cranes and containers to parks, promenades and new neighbourhoods. The schematic diagram shows which stacks face the sea, and the location page maps the area.
